TRUNK SHOWS... beginning this week!

I talked with Jane (JANE'S SEED BEADS & FIBERS) this weekend. She's in Tuscon. She should arrive in Alexandria on Thursday, setting up for the TRUNK SHOW!

TRUNK SHOW: FRIDAY & SATURDAY
February 12 & 13
Friday we will stay open late... a "mini" bead over!

Jane promises lots of seed beads & delicas, as well as her selection of "boro" glass, unusual findings, books, tools, fibers, and more! I remember last year finding so many unusual things! Jane is looking for black & gold beads for us, too!

SAM and JAMES return WEDNESDAY, 2/17/10 for a "one day" TRUNK SHOW! They are also in Tuscon and promise lots of gemstones, pearls, and crystals! Make your plans to be here on Wednesday! Watch for information about times... I might try to open early, if they are ready!

And, of course, don't forget about Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras!!! (These holidays have been absorbed by the Super Bowl and Saints' Victory!) We do have jewelry! If you are looking for something special for your special Valentine, stop by A BEAD BOUTIQUE!

Resting before the storm...

Many of you know Kermit from the shop. He makes fabulous jewelry for his wife, family, and friends! He is making the jewelry for his son's wedding this spring! Jackie calls Kermit a "speed stringer". I refer to him as our "Olympic Beader" and he'll be our candidate when beading becomes an Olympic sport!

Looks like I'll have to put him on staff at A BEAD BOUTIQUE... gotta make lots of BLACK & GOLD FLEUR DE LIS jewelry! Cheryl is wearing black & gold fleur de lis earrings that Kermit made!

Touchdown!!

Ted and I enjoyed the game with friends! I caught Ted at a quiet moment... just before he jumped up! Ted "paces" when he's nervous... I cook! Yesterday afternoon during all the pre-game shows, I was baking, cooking, preparing quite a spread! All for a perfect celebration! Yeah, Saints... Superbowl Champions!

Jackie's Necklace

Jackie made this necklace using a Navajo cross (signed by the Chief who made it) as her focal. The sterling silver cross has onyx stones. The necklace, made of different onyx and jet crystals, complements the cross... without taking away from the beauty and simplicity of it. Great job, Jackie! She has a few other projects in the works that are spectacular. I can't wait to see the finished works!

A New Necklace!

Thank you, Debbie, for modeling my new necklace. This necklace has kept me awake a few nights... working out some ideas for a different type of interchangeable necklace.

We sell lots of jewelry, and I guarantee my work. As a result, I put lots of thought (and practice) into the technique and finishing. If you have ever taken a class from me, you know how much emphasis I put on "finishing" your jewelry. This necklace can be worn as a single strand or with additional strands added. I am not done yet... still working on a couple of other 'ideas'! I love my job!

Debbie and I were able to bead into the night... Ginnie came in asking, "Do you girls know what time it is?" We didn't! We were both working on jewelry! Debbie finished a beautiful "grandmother's necklace" (why didn't I take a picture?) with the birthstones of the grandchildren and their parents. It was beautiful!

FRIDAY... "Yes, we still have fleur de lis charms!"

That was the answer to many phone calls we received yesterday. We sold a lot... I actually dipped into my back-up, way back-up stash! I'm expecting a shipment today of more fleur de lis charms! I also called a friend in Tuscon and said, "Bring more black and gold beads!"

The new chain should arrive today!

I am expecting a shipment of the new, smaller plated chain that everyone has loved! I'll work to get it out as soon as possible! There are a few other exciting things in that large shipment, too! Watch for more information!

Barbara's "JEWEL"!

Barbara made this beautiful piece at the BEAD OVER last week! It was her first time to attempt a piece with so many "wraps"! She did a great job! The BEAD OVERS are the perfect time to work on those pieces that you have not been able to complete! Watch for information about our next BEAD OVER! Great job, Barbara!

February 1st we began a new discount card. If you haven't gotten your new card, Thursday would be a great day to do just that! Start saving with each purchase!

Fleur de lis charms are hard to find! Not only here in Alexandria, but all over! I'm getting calls from around the state! Several of my suppliers are out of all fleur de lis charms! Geaux Saints! One of my vendors from California today said everyone is wanting Fleur De Lis charms! I reminded him of a little football game this Sunday... and our team from Louisiana! He asked, "Who Dat!" I loved it!

Yes, we do have fleur de lis charms! I'm out of the small silver ones; however, they should be in Friday! I have a good selection of gold fleur de lis charms... at least for this moment I do! You might have seen the ten pair of black & gold earrings I made (and sold) that are now on their way to New Orleans!

Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, and the Super Bowl...

What do these three events have in common with a wild and crazy Tuesday @ A BEAD BOUTIQUE? Good Question... one that I asked myself last night... after an unbelievable day!

I love a busy day. Needless to say, I loved yesterday! We have met so many new friends... all looking for beads or jewelry! One person said to me yesterday, "Wow!" as they looked at all the people in the shop. Took the words out of my mouth! We sold "black & gold" jewelry! I spent a good bit of time working on ideas for Mardi Gras ball jewelry. And, there were even a few guys looking for some help creating jewelry for their very special Valentine's! I love my job!

TODAY @ A BEAD BOUTIQUE...

Join us at 11 a.m. as we work through another day in my favorite bead store! I am expecting our order of new chain on Friday... and will work hard to get the chain out as quick as possible. (Everyone is enjoying the new chain that we received last Friday... it's going fast!) I will have some new plated, soldered rings in several finishes (silver, gold, gunmetal and copper), as well as some sterling silver chain, new chandelier earring findings, and more! We continue to get ready for our TRUNK SHOWS... beginning Friday, 2/12/09. Watch for more information!

February... TRUNK SHOWS & MORE!

Can you believe that it is February! Wow! January flew by! This next few weeks will be exciting! We are getting ready for Valentine's Day... making jewelry to be purchased... teaching classes so that guys can make jewelry for their special "Valentine!" Mardi Gras follows Valentine's Day by three days! Normally this is a busy time... and there is usually a little more time between these two holidays! Add the SUPER BOWL and our very own SAINTS to this mix... and we are having lots of fun! BUSY! BUSY! BUSY!

Saturday was another busy day in the shop (Thank you to Pam and Ginnie who worked while I took a much needed day off with Ted). We have welcomed new beaders every day this year!

Saturday, come on by!

Wow... what a night! We had twelve last night for our BEAD OVER! We had several first time guests and new beaders! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I love seeing what everyone makes. Barbara was working on a beautiful gemstone necklace made from a piece that she purchased at last week's TRUNK SHOW. She was creating a "chain", connecting each piece with a wrapped wire loop. It is a striking piece! Good work! (She was also the winner of last week's DOOR PRIZE, winning a pair of chain nosed pliers).

We had a basic wire wrap instruction/refresher course. Everyone caught on quickly... Zonya even was able to direct everyone while I was off helping someone else! Great work, everybody!

I looked up at the clock, realizing that I'd been at A BEAD BOUTIQUE for almost 17 hours yesterday (actually this morning)... a long day, but I wouldn't trade places with anyone! I love my job!

THE CHAIN ARRIVED!!!

Today, Saturday, come on by! We open at 11 a.m. The new plated chain arrived yesterday afternoon. We sold about 30 feet of it yesterdy. I also have some "samples" of some small, plated chain. Everyone who has seen them, loves them. I'll be ordering them on Monday! It is the best small chain (plated) that I have seen!
